New post type

In an effort to post more regularly, I'm trying a new thing this year! The idea is to make at least 1 text post each week (looks like it's going to be Sundays), and then a monthly round-up with actual pictures. In a week, I don't really have anything to show, so trying to take progress pics just seemed....ineffective? So I just didn't post anything previously.

Which would've been the case this week: I worked on, and then took EVERYTHING out of one of the leaves of my Maple Leaves piece. Including what I had done three centuries ago when I originally took the class. I want to reposition where I was working the drawn pattern within the leaf shape. So I'm progressing on that by working on a different leaf entirely; I'll come back to this one later.

Still chugging along on my cardigan, and I sure have looked at the pieces of Ode to Loara a lot over the last week. And in the mail: the materials for Pincushions of Nuremberg Series 2! Given the increase in health insurance premiums, and other uncertainty about how this year's going to go financially, I did have to debate about signing up for the second series. It took me like, a whole 15 minutes. I'm sure it'll be fine!

Part of that financial uncertainty is I'm looking at EGA's National Seminar this year. I think I've about talked myself into a particular two-day class. It's *really* expensive, but Orlando! In October! Mickey's Not So Spooky Halloween at Disney! And the hotel is a Universal preferred, which means I can get a shuttle and discounts there. So, it might be, a couple of days of class, and then several days of theme park. I'm trying to see if one of my housemates might go with me to split the hotel for the parks. Otherwise, I could check if anyone from my local chapter is going for the seminar. The problem is: I'm apparently terrible snorer (I've never noticed, but it's been reported by several sources). At least when I travel with my mom or a housemate, they already know what to expect. I'd feel bad inflicting myself on a near stranger...
