Prep done

Geez I didn't realize it had been a month since my last post. Anyway, the two pics I have today are both...basically the prep work for Papillon and the Fraktur book.

This was actually done shortly after getting back from the April trip. But that is all of the outlining, cutting, and wrapping needed. This week's EGA meeting is to go over the darning stitch that creates the pattern and cross stitch over one; ie, the actual point of these shenanigans.

As soon as that was done I started work on another of my to-dos: the Fraktur Trifold Sewing Book. Which meant finishing the linen edges and then mounting the longest (27 inches) frame I have ever used. But I have outlines!

This will be the main inside of the book. Only that big square at the end has much stitching; the other two, framed sections, will be left largely empty because I'll instead be attaching some of the doodads made previously. This was basically a week's worth of work; it sat for a bit after being mounted as I tried to figure out how to work with that size frame (my usual trick of balancing between my lap and table didn't cut it). So I really started working on it last weekend. AS I KNEW WOULD HAPPEN: Amy has you stitch the black outline first, and I sure did get off by a thread. So that part is the second try, after I used the first botched outline to get the gold lines in and then used those as a guide to rework the outer line. Normally I would leave it move on with my life, but the black line is used in the construction of the book and will need to line up with a printed pattern. While I think it probably still would have worked, better safe than sorry and it really didn't take that long.
