Back to Work

As always, this trip was wonderful! I got to catch up with a lot of my favorite people, a lot of delicious food (and at least one more restaurant to add to the list), and most importantly: a lot of stitching.

The back of the Stuart Thistle is done and fully mounted. Next step for this is to finish up the reticella lace that gets mounted on the front.

The cross stitch is done! I wish the metallic showed up a little bit better in pictures, because he is very shiny now. There's a little bit of outlining to do before this part is complete. But I'm still playing around with which stitch to use (designed with back stitch, but stem may be better?) and how much (designed with the dragon fully outlined and then interior lines to help define his arms and wings, etc, and then some of the chest. But maybe I just want to do the interior defining lines?)

What I should really do is hold the fabric over the box I intend to mount it on and make sure it fits, but I haven't wanted to put my math to the test so...definitively yet. Avoidance!

I also did the little beaded amulet bag, because after a week of stitching I wanted at least one finish.

It was so nice to have a piece entirely begun and finished. This one went home with my mom to join her jewelry collection.

As is my norm, I haven't put in a single stitch on anything since I got home. But I have done some knitting: especially on the scarf. I didn't bother taking an update picture, because it's all just the same squares. The pattern asks for 4 balls of the red yarn, which should nicely split the scarf into quarters, so right now I'm focused on getting to that first quarter.

I also really wanted to do something with weaving, so I'm trying my hand at a brocaded tablet weave:

It's all size 10 crochet thread because uh....I have so much. Miles of white thread. That is one pattern repeat down and the next one started. My goal is to get a 12" band, and that's about 2.5".

Made it to 2026!

Already starting the year off better than last! Apparently my earliest 2025 post was in February, so I'm calling this one a win. As exp...
