Step 1 complete!
Two whole seams done. These are the fronts, no I am not bothering to try and pattern match this is going to be a housecoat. I am sewing by hand, and it doesn't actually take too long to do a seam. The challenge has been wanting to sit down to do it. But I think, now that I've started, I should be able to pick up and stitch in the evenings. Next step is to get all the back panels together, then iron the heck out of everything.Sunday, March 19, 2023

I live!
No updates in February, because I was mostly packing for a long stitching trip, and wanted to make sure all of my tools and supplies stayed together. But it was well worth it for two classes from Jenny Adin-Christie, https://jennyadin-christieembroidery.com .
The head and body for her Parham Owl. I absolutely adore his little face, and am so glad I was able to take this class. I do need to get the wings finished and attached, and technically there's a pincushion to go inside his head that I still need to do. But I'm glad I was able to get him to the point where he can stand on his stump.
I also took the Stuart Thistle class, and got the front attached and mostly done. There's a piece of reticello lace that will be appliqued over the purple. Then there's the back, and the cords this will hang from, and a decorative bead and edging. Definitely did not get as much done as I did the owl, but this was the second class.
Generously, one of my friends also attending the event found these two knitting kits in her stash and gifted them to me! Both are reproductions from either illustrations or a recovered artifact from the 17th century, which is interesting because I don't tend to think much of knitting from that period. They're both very cute, and *should* be pretty quick projects.
But not yet! Because instead I'm working on...
The fanciest bathrobe! If you can't tell, that's the bodice roughly pinned together so I could, very carefully, try it on before committing to stitches. The pattern is Simplicity 8769, and is supposed to be a fantasy pirate coat? But I'm making mine out of pretty floral fleece, so it will instead be an overly complicated house coat. And yes, I'll be hand sewing because I can't figure out machines. But after the--delightful!--deeply intense couple of classes from Jenny, I'm looking forward to just sewing long seams. No thought, only back stitch.Made it to 2026!
