Stitched!

I went this past weekend to my parents for the holidays, and brought Madam Butterfly with me. To success! I got the last bit of stitching done, and voila:

Now that I have all the pieces, I need to get my blocking situation figured out. So I'll be setting these aside to get that settled, and then I can come back for finishing.

I very specifically didn't take my knitting with me, because that's all I've been working on at home. I really want this sweater for wearing.

And I'm getting there! That is the start of the first sleeve, which is picked up directly from the body. Once it's done, I'll just have an underarm seam (and of course all the ends to weave in). I meant to leave a longer tail when I was picking up the stitches, so I'd have a built-in sewing thread ready to go, but I forgot.

sweater

Been knitting, because I really want another wool sweater. This year feels both colder and darker than previous winters.

Back and front done and shoulders joined, and I've picked up stitches for the collar. I'll get that done and weave in ends before I pick up the sleeves.

So much knitting

Progress on Devyn! I love cables so much, especially given how much lace I've done recently.

I've hit the split for front and back, and am currently working on the back. The markers were put in on that row, since sweater patterns always have you measure from the split at this point. So now I have multiple spots across the back to confirm the length before I start the neckline.

You may have noticed how very square everything is; there's not really any side shaping, and the armholes are also straight. I used to be all about shaped knitting, and making sure the shaping was fitted to me. But now that I am also mostly square, I really love these straight-edged patterns and they work up so quickly. Bring me all the chunky cabled sweaters!

Made it to 2026!

Already starting the year off better than last! Apparently my earliest 2025 post was in February, so I'm calling this one a win. As exp...
