This is sufficient right?

Progress on finishing has been made!

Everything is now at least one piece and has the first layer of interfacing. I will get it finished into the cylinder needlecase, but I'm enjoying being able to see the whole thing as one piece right now.

I also had a goody come in the last week; I ordered another Bitsy Bob from That's So Kelly

It's a really nice thread keep that Susan showed me at Needles and Sins. I ended up giving the first one I'd ordered to my mom, and ordering this one because I really love the fabric here (the first one I got was very cute too). Now I just need to start another project so I have threads to track.

I'm very close to finishing my current knitting piece, so I'm focusing hard on that. But once it's done and all the ends woven in, I might switch back to stitching and get something started before picking up the next knitting piece (which I do already have the yarn for...). We'll see.

Working space

Did some reorganization this weekend, including finally clearing off my table I specifically bought to be a work station.

On the right side, that's my little ironing board hanging on the side of that bookcase, and the green bag is my Salty Yarns shopping bag which is hilariously the perfect size to cover my sewing machine. Which I'll one day get serviced so I can actually use it. On the left I've got my finishing supplies in the blue bin, and general supplies and tools in the bins on that bookcase. On the one hand, I'm so glad to have a clear, specific space to work on crafting. On the other hand, I'm not sure what kind of sign it is that I immediately did not use it because I was instead...

heckin knitting! I finally reached the pleat at the top of that lace section down the back, and now the front and back get the same lace panel and armhole shaping. Debating my plans for tonight: go ahead and iron out my two stitched pieces, or keep going on the sweater. Alternatively, neither, and curl up under the blankets because the weather decided to revisit winter this week.

Returned

Returned Monday and still have not fully unpacked from the beach. But I did finally unpack my stitching and have pictures!

I was able to get all of the threads and the fabric for Moonlight Guardian at Salty Yarns. I also stocked up on a bunch of essentials: whole stack of stretcher bars so I can stop stealing my mom's, some more packs of needles, some stitch holders for knitting, etc...

I took my knitting and am getting close to the next bit of pattern! Another couple inches of stockinette; I'll take a picture then. But I also brought a little Fern Ridge, fernridgecollections.com, piece called Bats All Folks that had been my travel project before covid. I....had done a lot more than I remembered. So I was able to get all of the stitching done.

That means I now have two projects that need finishing. Which means it's definitely time to clear off my workstation and finally get it set up. I have been working on that in the evenings after work (rather than unpacking) so hopefully I'll be able to at least iron everything this weekend.

Stitching done!

I did actually finish that last petal last weekend! Now comes a lot of ironing and cutting and more ironing and cutting.....little bit of sewing....also known as finishing. That'd be this weekend's project, except I'm going out of town! Not going to lie, I did have a hard think about how ridiculous it'd be to pack an iron.

(I had finished everything on the darker fabric in class.) For this weekend's trip, I'm headed to Salty Yarns in MD with my momma. She'll be taking a class, I'll be enjoying the beach. Will be bringing my current knitting (which I have made progress on, but nothing really different than the previous pic) as well as this chart:

So when I was a small wee child, every time I went to the local stitching shop I picked up another dragon chart, because my vision of me as an adult would be to buy a house and plaster it with cross stitched dragons. Now that I'm an adult, I do have a house, but I have no wall space. But I've been watching Katie Strachan's Simple Harmony tutorials on youtube, and realized I could adapt these charts to fit a box. Assuming my calculations are correct, I can put the center dragon motif on the lid, and wrap the border design around the sides of the box. Does mean stitching it on 40-count.

so close!

I'm so close, just this one last petal! And then outlining it. And then all the finishing.....I love the way the trellis petals look with the padding, but omg it is a trick and a half to do. I'm so glad I finally got to take a class with Catherine; her pieces are always so sweet and packed with different stitches so I'm glad the stars aligned this time.

If I'm especially squirrely, I may be able to get the stitching done this weekend, if not the whole construction.

Made it to 2026!

Already starting the year off better than last! Apparently my earliest 2025 post was in February, so I'm calling this one a win. As exp...
